Australian Made Scarves are the Best Gifts!
•Posted on December 09 2025
The best gifts I think have to be Australian made scarves. The reasons are...
- They are super handy to add to any outfit
- Scarves come in many different fabrics and patterns, so easy to match your wardrobe.
- No issues with fit, the sizing is more about what style of scarf.
- Scarves are easy to post if needed, light and not fragile.
- They make great gifts for many occasions.
- Scarves are perfect for all seasons.
- They can be worn many different ways.
- Scarves are functional fashion.
The great reason to buy a scarf from our online store is that we only sell Australian made products so all our scarves are locally made, in fact we make all our scarves in our home studio in Brisbane, where they are all pre-washed in rainwater too. In the past I have had one of our trusty makers sew our scarves, however as we have slowed down and reduced our production since 2022, I am back on the sewing machine myself roll hemming beautiful fabrics to make scarves. It's almost a meditation for me, I like the rhythm of roll roll, stitching away, there's another scarf!
Each time I see a nice feeling fabric in great colours, I see it in a scarf, that is why our selection of scarves has been expanding. The Night Lotus crinkle silk shown below is my latest addition. So if you're after a gift, any time of the year and for any occasion, check our our range. We have many fabric options from pure silk, Japanese cottons, silk/cottons, organic cotton knits and merino jersey.
I love the Ashen scarf shown below, which is made from a smokey charcoal coloured textured silk that we used in a collection 15 years ago. This fabric has been made into 53cm wide and 2m long scarf, so generous in size that it doubles as a shawl.
The Striation scarf is part of the 'Synthesis' collection, made from a striped Japanese silk, it's bold and will lift any plain outfit. Black and white stripes are always a winner. The Striation scarf is 48cm x 2m long, nice and long so it can be worn simply hanging or looped around your neck.
If silk isn't your thing, we have lots made from beautiful Japanese made cottons, which are perfect for summer. The Nightflower scarf below is again a generous size 50cm x 195cm and is a perfect companion in summer as you can spread it out over your shoulders and neck for sun protection if needed.
We have a small collection of scarves that are a shorter length and width, 38cm x 140cm which offers less fabric therefore a smaller overall look. A friend was buying another one of these from me recently and told me she preferred this size in summer as it can be tied loosely around your neck and the ends twisted around to make more of a cowl neck piece type effect without loose ends. This selection are made from border printed fabrics, so the print gradually morphs from one end the the other. The 3 versions of these are shown below, the Helix, Gradient and Hoop scarves.
Over the 22 years of RANT as a label I have had some stunning prints and the Twig and Petal printed silk has to be one of my most loved. This European digitally printed silk has every beautiful colour in it! There are 4 of these available that I made from the last few pieces of this silk.
I did also make a scarf from a long piece of the stunning Japanese made Cupro Jacquard fabric that we made the stunning Shallot Culottes from. The Passage scarf is 26cm x 270cm long, so it can also be worn as a sash to cinch in an outfit. I love working out what to create with the fabrics I buy, and how to make use of all of the fabric, as it's an important part of being a sustainable business, zero waste.
Adorning your body with amazing textiles is something totally love doing, and it doesn't have to be complicated. Scarves are an easy way to add this element to your every day.
