Behind the Scenes of the summer RANT photo shoot

Summer arrived in Brisbane on Saturday when we had our photo shoot for the RANT summer collection, Diverge. The summer styles were certainly tested as it was 31 degrees and really hot at our location, a massive couple of warehouses that had great light and lines! I had 5 weeks to create this collection because when Todd found this location we found out that it was being demolished soon, so we had till the weekend of 25th September if we wanted to shoot there. So I went to work.....

In January I found this stunning Japanese yarn dyed striped cotton. I knew immediately what I would make it in, the awesome Asha pants that were in the Vine collection from 2013. This stripe was perfect for them and I wanted to create a matching top, light and cool to wear with a nice pleat detail at the neckline. More will be revealed of these styles closer to launch time which is 21st October. All these woven fabric styles are being made with love and care by one of our new makers, Jacinta. Slow fashion is something that takes time and Jacinta isn't the fastest on a sewing machine but she creates a beautiful garment and takes an incredible amount of care, which you can feel when you put them on.

Our team on the day was a group of regulars who all know each other. Todd Hunter McGaw (photos), Alarna Taylor (H&MU), Stacy Lobb (model), Jay and myself.

I trust Todd 100% to translate the collection I've created into images, because we understand each other so well after a decade of doing shoots together. This shoot was planned to have a different feel, especially with the bold stripes and all the volume of fabric in the Asha pants. The big industrial space gave us room to move there were so many different areas to take advantage of.

Alarna  (the blonde person in the pics) took care of the hair and makeup looks which I had been chatting to her about before the day. Alarna had been the H& MU person for the last RANT shoot with Stacy as the model, and I simply had to get Stacy back again for this shoot as she was a perfect match for this collection.

The first make up look had blue and green liner which looked great with Stacy's eyes.

The second make up look was making the green more bold and exaggerated to contrast with the all black outfits I had planned for the second half.

It was a fun day as usual, I find shoot days a great opportunity to catch up with everyone, play dress ups and have a laugh. So here are a few more behind the scenes pics that Jay took of us girls, Stacy, Alarna and myself. And of course the back of Todd's head which always features in our behind the scenes pics as either Jay or myself are always looking over his shoulder.

The Diverge collection is planned to be released on Thursday 21st October in limited quantity. The timing will be perfect as the weather warms up and I'm sure you will all be wanting to wear this beautiful lightweight Japanese cotton fabric.

Thanks for reading,

Cheers
