Bestowed collection #11 - Dill print galore
•Posted on December 05 2018
Well last week we released the 11th Bestowed collection featuring an original dill print screen printed onto organic cotton jersey. If you want to read more about the creation of this collection look at the previous post.
This collection has some great new shapes that I have created to survive the summer heat. I am the pattern maker these days which is funny because I have had no formal training at all, just experience at sewing and playing around with patterns. I simply take some base pattern shape and add what I think would be good, sample it in the fabric and make alterations from there.
The new shapes are selling well and are perfect for the hot summer weather
.
The Lore Dress (pics below) and Lore Tee (pics above)
This shape is a loose one size style. The sleeves have ties so you can tie them up for an almost sleeveless look. There is a pocket on the right side and the left side of the garment has drape as the sleeve is set into the top of the garment so it falls and creates drape with that excess fabric. Sounds complicated but when you put it on you will see what I mean. The Lore comes in both dill prints, black and white as well as plain black. The tee length also comes in plain white.
I love wearing the Lore dress simply thrown on, loose, cool and comfortable. It does also look great over Trinity pants or leggings which I will do when the weather cools down but for now it's worn on it's own.
The Tee is great to throw on over anything, including our Dayvan & Trinity Pants. It looks great over the Willow, Jezabel and Split skirts and I have put it on over my Dita Maxi dress from a few years ago which is still a fav for me.
The Rose Tunic and Rose Dress
This shape has a nice wide soft V neckline that is not too low, so doesn't flash when you bend forward. The back has a flared panel at the centre back to add swing. Both styles have 2 pockets, a freehand shape I drew on my first sample. The tunic is long enough to cover the top of your pants or skirt and will match any bottom shape you match it with.
The Rose dress is another throw on and it's perfect garment, no need to add anything except sandals and your accessories if needed. It can be layered with pants if you want but I have been enjoying the coolness of it worn as a shorter dress.
Archie Tank top. All 4 colour options pictured below.
This is a unisex style that I made from one of Jay's tops. I did add extra room in it by putting a shaped insert panel on the left side, this makes it looser around the hips without making it shaped on the side seams.
The armholes are not bound because I wanted them to sit loose and not pull in. The edges are raw and curl under to finish off nicely. I made a longer shirt tail hem at the back which can be cut off if you don't want it so low.
This style has been well received and many customers who have purchased one have come back for multiples.
Stay tuned for the the next blog story about the North Bag,
Cheers,
Sarah
