Sanctuary Magazine issue 51 is out now in Newsagents or you can purchase online from the Sanctuary magazine website. Why are we telling you this? Well...... our simple little home & studio is featured in it. Not on the cover but inside.
In everything we do we consider sustainability, and our renovations were focussed around these principles too, under the guidance of our Architect friend Julie Borgelt.
After a huge storm hit our suburb, The Gap in 2008, we started securing our home studio against climate change and the severe storms that probably would become more frequent. This way we could ensure our home and business would be able to continue after a weather event. Issue 51 is all about designing for resilience.
Our renovations took 12 years to complete, that way we could do it in smaller parts, as we could afford it and so we could keep living here and producing our garments.
We usually keep our personal side more private and as you probably already know, we are not big on sharing pics of ourselves, but we are super excited to see our story told in this mag. Emma Scrag wrote our story and Todd Hunter McGaw took the photos, in fact the pics were taken in the last week before total lock down, a very odd time indeed.
I hope you enjoy reading our story and would consider popping into your local newsagent to buy a copy and support Sanctuary Magazine who are 'not for profit' bringing the latest sustainable practices to people in a visually beautiful magazine.
