Ink and Spindle X Sustainable Fashion online

Last year we started selling some table linen because it fitted in with what we do, Australian made and natural textiles. After having a look at expanding our selection we decided to work with Melbourne textile printers Caitlin and Lara from Ink and Spindle. Back in 2012 we had some fabric printed by them to use on Aprons and accessories and we love the feel that hand screen printing brings. So it made sense to create our first customised linen collection with them. We chose two different prints, customised the fabric and colours, then had Ink and Spindle print, cut and sew them for us. Each of the two prints are available in tea towels, napkins and table runners.
The Saw Tooth Banksia is printed with an opaque white ink on a granite coloured eco linen base. I love the leaf shape of the Saw Tooth Banksia and it looks stunning as a table decoration. I like it with my black and grey toned ceramics, a simple monochromatic look. 
I use a tea towel as a cloth on my serving tray, folding it to fit. While the table runner looks awesome along the centre of the table with or without things on top. I find that I use a table runner at home more than a tablecloth, you get the texture and pattern of the textile while still seeing the grain of our wooden table. But everyone has different furniture and styling taste, so you could place the runner over a plain tablecloth base too.
The napkins are a generous size, 45cm square, so they can also be used as small decoration under vases etc. There’s no limit to how our table linen can be used. We have done some pics of the different sizes being held up, so you can see visually how big they are.
The second print is another Australian native that I love, the Silky Oak. We have a glorious Silky Oak tree in our backyard. Most years it turns into a rich golden display of flowers. It’s leaves have a beautiful shape too and the linen has been printed with two different colours, a grey and rainforest green.

They are all made with Belgian linen, which is such a beautiful quality and certified Oeko-Tex, standard 100 (class IV), so no harmful chemicals are to be used in its production. The screen printing is all hand done in house at Ink and Spindle in Melbourne using water based inks, they are also cut & sew them.
I really enjoyed getting these custom made pieces done. I love their aesthetic and know you will too.
